I‘m tired of the people that rest on what they have done, or what they think they have done, makes them trainer of champions. Ya gotta earn that rep!
The best thing about it is, some of these coaches think they know, but don’t even know enough to know they don’t know.
I know guys with plenty of education, and I know guys with lots of experience. The problem is, guys tend to rest on the fact that they only have the one. Got experience, I guarantee if you don’t pick up a book, or learn from others you will die a slow death. Usually at the expense of the athlete. Who cares who you trained, what have you done lately! When you interview the coach, (yes, I said interview), and the first words out of his mouth are “when I, back when, in, (place year here), I would, and best of all I coached…., run for the hills. In fact let that be your first and last training session with him, accelerate and maintain to your parked car!
Got so many degrees, your business cards say continued on the back! You definitely have the theory, but athletes aren’t all made in a lab, well most anyway. Check their results! Now you can talk about who they have produced, and we’re talking from the ground up. Not a poacher, you know…., you shot it, cleaned it, cooked it, and your house guest saw it on the dinner table and he ate it!
Find someone who has both, and is eager to learn, someone who can actually say ” I don’t know ” but is willing to find out, and get back to you with the answer. Someone who actually cares about you and your progress, not use you as a stepping stone, and blow you off for somebody else bigger than you. Trus’ me I’d rather be a living, walking, and talking resume for that dude any day of the week, than to be a notch on a dusty belt!
You tell me I’m wrong, am I just another disgruntled athlete. I know there are others like me that have experienced the same things. Get at me with them comments!
