There have been so many great endings in the history of sports but some of them have also been unusual too and not the greatest way to lose either! It got me thinking Top 8 Most Unusual Sports Endings? You betcha!
Here it is:
ENJOY!
8. Blackhawks vs Philadelphia – NHL Stanley Cup Game 7 / 2010
The Blackhawks went on to win the Stanley Cup on this Goal at end of game 6. Patrick Kane scored the cup-wining goal or did he?
7. #1USC vs #5Notre Dame – Regular Season NCAA Football / 2005
With just 10 seconds left on the clock and down by 3 points, USC drives down the field to Notre Dame’s 3 yard line. No timeouts are left for USC & Matt Leinhart decides to scramble left and head for the endzone. He didn’t make it in the endzone and the clock would then run down. But what no one saw was the ball go out of bounds which would stop the clock. One more shot at it? (Fast Forward to 1:42)
6. Titans vs Bills – NFL Playoffs / 2000
The Titans last minute attempt to get into the endzone, named the “Music City Miracle”. Thrown right across the field, but did it count as a backward pass or lateral?
5. Kim Clijsters vs Serena Williams – WTA US Open / 2009
One point away from Championship point for Clijsters, and Serena is serving. Faults her first serve then foot faults her second serve and swears she didn’t, literally. But did that just caused her the game on championship point?
4. Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers – NHL / 2007
13 seconds left with the Stars winning 5 – 4. Edmonton has to pull their goalie to get an extra man on the ice. Dallas steals the puck in Edmonton’s half and game over?
3. California vs Standford – NCAA Football / 1982
The famous 1982 match where they continued to lateral the ball to get it to the endzone, but wait…did the player get tackled or no?
2. Saskatchewan Roughrider vs Montreal Alouettes - CFL Grey Cup / 2009
The final 3 seconds of the game and Montreal has a shot to win in on a field goal and completely shanks it! Roughriders win!! Wait…flag on the play?
1. KK partisan vs Cibona Zagreb - NLB European Championship / 2010
I couldn’t tell you which team is which in the European Basketball Championship, but I can tell its over at the first 3 point shot! But there’s still 0.6 seconds left on the clock? Lesson Learned: Never stop playing (or start celebrating) until the clock reads 0.0…unbelievable!
