Read…1. Routine, 3. Mentality, 4. Breathe It
First you need to ask yourself an honest question that needs to be solved. Why is your jaw not moving? This is because to be a monster you have to be fueling up constantly. This can often be mistaken for gaining weight but it is not always the case because you have to fuel up with the right stuff. Let’s face it, as an athlete we burn up way more of what we eat, and we do it a lot faster. The issues comes when the the burned calories are not being replaced on a regular basis.
Most athletes have got to the point where they can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner; but if you are not at the point where you can get in 3 meals a day than just stop reading now or continue.
Being a monster is not stuffing your face for those three meals to try and get the calories in. It is about what you do between those meals. For example, today for lunch I cut up some veggies and a chicken breast and threw them inside a pita. Then I began writing this article, but I could not let the jaw stop moving for too long, so as I typed this article I was eating a banana and some strawberries.
The true monster does not rest on God given ability, but they further enhance their ability with the mentality to eat like a champion.
People can say what they want and act like eating has nothing to do with performance. People usually only think this because they do not want to eat better, or because they know someone who eats horrible but is still amazing at their sport.
Eating like a champion is all about eating things that will make you better and learning to almost disregard taste sometimes. I eat a can of tuna as my late night snack almost every day. Dry tuna does not taste that good but it don’t matter to me because it will make me better so it has to be done.
Tip: Eating Carbohydrates close to bed can turn the carboydrates straight to fat. Make dinner more protein based and after dinner stick to protein strictly. Like eating a chicken breast, or my personal favourite, a can of tuna.
Do not forget to make sure your snacks cover all your food groups. Once you do this along with your meals you will be well on your way to eating like a champion.
What I like to do
On an ideal day where everything goes just the way I want to. This is a lot easier to do for me when I am in school because there is a lot more structure to the day.
- Snack after Breakfast - Marble cheese, kiwi fruit
- Snack after Lunch - Fresh fruit mix with different berries, pretzels
- Snack After Dinner - Muffins
- Snack at Night - Tuna
Snack Ideas
Protein
- beans
- tuna
- sardines,
- peanut butter (My brother and I are both allergic but I know nuts have some great uses)
Carbohydrates
- Pretzels
- Popcorn without butter
- Whole wheat crackers
- Granola
Fruits and Veggies
- Any fruits will work
- Any veggies will work the more colors the better
Dairy
- Cheese
- Yogurt
- Glasses of milk with your food
Once you get your snack game completed. Slowly begin to make your snacks larger and larger, until your snacks become small meals. Your metabolism reacts to what it ate the previous day; so if you starve yourself often your body will become use to not getting enough nurtients.
It can be simple really, if your jaw is not moving constantly, start making it move constantly. When your jaw is moving constantly, it better be moving constantly with the right foods in it.
