The mentality you take with you into sports will have a huge impact on how you perform. You have to have that hunter mentality, where you either hunt or you starve. Every win you get is like adding a day to your survival. To be a monster you were not one of those people who thinks winning is not important. Winning was always the prize.
Others never see this as a bad thing in you because along with your want for wins comes your drive. The drive that makes you work hard, the drive that allows you to never stop wanting to get better. It is all about the mentality.
Think about it when you watch any one in any sport who is one of the best in the game, how do they behave, and how do they carry themselves? Some people just see freakish God given talent but I see so much more. I see athletes who want to win at all costs, and put them self in positions to do that. Some people just see what goes on during game night with no thought as to what they do in practice and at their homes to be at the level they are.
You Get Out What You Put In
It is like this, if you have not studied for a test at all chances are you are going to go into the test a bit worried. Why, because you put in NO WORK, so chances are you will get nothing back. On the other hand if you study your butt off and feel adequately prepared you go into the test with much more confidence.
SO…
Sports are no different, if you train hard and do EVERYTHING you can possibly do to get better than you will never go into competition with any worries. Why would you have any worries when your prepared for it in every way possible. Now imagine doing this constantly for years. The result would be scary, a scary monster at that.
You would walk into competition like it is practice because you already know what to expect. Winning is not something that will just come as a lucky shot, winning is something that will always come because you have OUT WORKED YOUR COMPETITION.
The mentality you have will control your athletic destiny if you don’t believe me, do not work hard at anything you do and see how far you get. Go into everything you do in life with a mentality of expecting the world to hand it to you on a silver platter.
You Have to Believe Before the World Will
If you do not believe you are a monster or that you can be one you will never be one. Tell yourself that you are a monster, and start training like one, start living like one, and you will eventually be one, if you are not already.
